Summary/Abstract: The project „Modern Methods of Investigation,Authentication and Preservation of the Icons from Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania Patrimony” has proposed to complete the scientific expertise of the icons available in the Museum.An example of this is scientific expertise of icon (no. 8228) using modern equipment (FTIR spectroscopy, thermal analysis and mass spectrometry coupled with gas chromatography) which led us to the precise establishment of the essence of wood and technique of painting, finally leading to the possibility of selecting with precision the methods of preservation and restoration of it.
