PROBLEMS AND ISSUES OF THE CONTEMPORARY BATHROOMS

Summary/Abstract: The article is developing research ideas identified in my PhD thesis “Bathroom as a Living Area”, a paper through which I set out to study one of the areas of the contemporary house, the bathroom, which has had its own dynamics throughout history and which has been continuously enriched with new architectural, functional and social meanings inside the dwellings. The planimetric and functional configuration of the contemporary dwellings conceals a long series of changes and reinterpretations of the functions of the areas they are formed of, and the bathroom has succeeded through its evolution or, better said, its involution in some periods of history, to shape its own story. In this article, I have chosen to present some problems and questions which have resulted from my study.
