Summary/Abstract: Coverage of the process of the emergence and formation of informal societies in Sumy region and characterization of the main di-rections of their activity. The article analyzes and studies the pecul-iarities of the formation and functioning of informal societies on the territory of the Sumy region during the years of restructuring (1985–1991). The article outlines the main stages of the socio-political activity of leaders of informal societies, in particular the head of the club, the thought of Alexander Kobyakov, the head of the «Heritage» society of Alexei Shevchenko, and also the leader of the Union for the facilitation of the restructuring of Vladimir Mayboroda.
