Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts at an intellectual and scholarly analysis of the Qur’anic and exegetical studies produced in Turkey during the period spanning from the modernization and Tanzimat experience in the late Ottoman Turkey to the Republic and all the way down to the present time. In this connection, an attempt shall be made to address the Qur’anic and exegetical studies produced from the Tanzimat period up to the present, the former being a historical date marking the acceleration of the movement of modernization and the opening of the Ottomans to the Western influence. And this will be done in methodological and paradigmatic terms. In addition, an effort shall be made to discover the reasons that gave rise to the break of modern exegetical conception from tradition.
