Rubaiyat by Hafiz Shirazi

Summary/Abstract: Hafiz Shirazi is one of the most prolific and significant Persian poets. Most of his Divan is composed of gazels. However, in addition, Hafiz wrote poetry in several different poetic forms, including rubaiyat. The number of rubaiyat by Hafiz varies from one edition of his Divan to another. In Qasimi’s edition, which is considered one of the most authentic, there are 42 rubaiyats, whereas in the Calcutta edition, which was the first printed edition of Hafiz’s Divan, there are 69 rubaiyats. The Kasimi edition includes four different rubaiyats which are not found in the Calcutta edition, whereby both editions contain the total number of 73 rubaiyats, and they are translated into Bosnian language in this paper for the first time.
