Summary/Abstract: The tradition of Ozan-Baksı which has an importance in the pre-islamic social life of the Turks gives its place to the tradition of ‘aşıklık’ by means of expanding the thought of ‘tarikat’ and ‘tasavvuf’ in the Ottoman period. Taking their traditional instrument (saz) on their back, some wandering minsterls (aşık) attribute a mission of ‘dervish’ to the tradition of ‘aşıklık’ by forming a connection with the ‘tarikat’ circles and therefore they transform sufistic joy into the tradition of ‘aşıklık’. In this transformation process, the name, ‘aşık’ is adopted instead of the name,‘ozan’ (bard), and ‘aşıks’ have two basic manners towards ‘ozan’ and ‘zahid’. In this study, after giving information about the foundation process of ‘Aşık’ style of poem tradition, we try to determine the reflection of sufistic joy onto the aşık’s manner by taking into consideration the sample poems in which ‘aşık’ defines himself.
