Summary/Abstract: In Szadek, the Polish Military Organization (POW) was established in the spring 1915. It was set up by Feliks Szymański (“Szczęsny”), who performed the function of its commanding officer up to 1917. The next commander of POW in Szadek was Franciszek Zabłocki (“Konarski”). In November 1918, after the regaining of independence, POW was dissolved. The Szadek section of POW, commanded by Stanisław Godecki, took part, among others, in the disarming of Germans in Szadek, Zygry and Zduńska Wola. The chronicle of the Szadek section of POW, kept in the District Museum in Sieradz, documents its activity during the 1st World War.
