Summary/Abstract: Maarif Salnames published beetween 1898-1903 is one of the most important sources reflecting the general education system and the policy of the Ottoman State. With these salnames, it is possible to examine all educational activities in the Ottoman geography. These salnames shed light on the statistical information such as the number of students and teachers of the schools in the country, the religion and nationality of the students receiving education in schools, and the types of schools. Adapazari, which is our area of study, is an district connected to the Sanjak of Izmit as of the period and it is understood that there are intensive educational activities from the documents and Maarif Salnames in this region. These data provide us with unique opportunities in order to better understand the educational activities of region and make an inference. In this study, schools belonging to non-Muslims who teach in Adapazari and its around and foreign schools between 1898-1903 are examined. The statistical information of these schools between 1898-1903 was discussed in detail and these data were compared with each other.
