Summary/Abstract: Gender stereotypes are becoming the part of area interests on the different fields of study and they are the subject of the research, which it is possible to situate them in the borderland of social science and humanistic. The present text constitutes the attempt to show, what place in media sciences interests, gender stereotypes are seizing. The examples of foreign and polish examinations and some bringing up the issue of gender stereotypes publications, were summoned to taking about gender stereotypes into account media sciences optics. The last part contains the results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the opinion weeklies „Polityka”, „Newsweek Polska”, „Wprost”, „Gość Niedzielny” and „W Sieci” on the online site of this opinion weekly from January 1 to July 31, 2017, posted on their websites and showing stereotypes. The analysis showed that the editors join the discourse on gender stereotypes and show good practices of breaking still existing gender stereotypes. Gender stereotypes are still present in public space, as exemplified by the publications studied, however, it should be noted that editorial teams are trying to take action against gender stereotyping.
