Summary/Abstract: The present paper suggests an enquiry into the reality of present day society seen from aRomanian academic context by analysing in a qualitative way the mission of theDepartment of Modern Languages and Business Communication from the BucharestUniversity of Economic Studies and the Department’s contributions to the institutionaland professional developments of both students and staff. The enquiry is trying toidentify and clarify the importance of the correct and transparent use of language/s in thepolitical discourse of the decision makers of the university. I will do so from acomparative point of view
