A CREATIVE FUTURE FOR ASSAN’S MILL

Summary/Abstract: The future seems to bring along with the intense densificationof cities the tendency to uniformize architectureby losing interest in the value of the heritage of thepast and its characteristic forms. In this context, the actionsfor safeguarding and functional aligning to contemporaryrequirements of monuments and historicalassemblies contribute both to the sustainability of theconstructed fund and to the (social and cultural) activationof the areas to which they belong. The case studyfocuses on a proposal for urban regeneration of Assan’sMill, an ensemble classified as a historical monumentthat tells about Bucharest’s industrial past, which is enrichedthrough the project with a new contemporaryfunction designed to extend its life and diversify its possibilitiesof use.
