Summary/Abstract: The theoretical study focuses on one of the most important representatives in the field of somatopaedia in the Czech Republic, Jan Chlup, who has been significantly involved in building care for individuals with physical impairments and institutional care. With his purposeful work, he continued with the work of Rudolf Jedlička and became a promoter of the comprehensive concept of caring for people with physical disabilities also. The aim of this study is to analyze the life and work of Jan Chlup, an excellent educator, organizer, tutor and pioneer of new methods of education and upbringing.
