Summary/Abstract: The preservation in Kashubian dialects of the primeval meaning of home, i.e. ‘family; a larger kinship community’, a small degree of acceptance in those dialects of the word praca ‘work’ (widespread in a larger part of western Slavic region) instead of the more deeply entrenched and archaic robota, the peculiar situation of the word wolność ‘freedom’, of a weak and not always clear documentation, the general-Slavic cześć still functioning semantically instead of the late borrowing honor, the lack of dialectal usage of the word Europa: all this corroborates the hypothesis of a largely archaic nature of Kashubian dialects.
