Summary/Abstract: The study presents partial research findings within the area of introducing inclusive education into the environment of Slovak primary schools with a closer focus on the qualitative analysis of school educational programs as basic curricular documents in primary schools. The study deals with the issue of inclusive education in the Slovak educational environment from the perspective of preparedness and the ability of schools to adequately respond to the needs of all students included in the mainstream education, i.e. not only the needs of students with special educational needs, but also the needs of gifted children and children of general population. The presented study deals with the identification of processes in the framework of school educational programs of selected Slovak primary schools in Prešov and Košice self-governing regions. It focuses on the analysis of school culture, policy and practice towards inclusive education. The study analyzes selected school curricula through a modified quality assessment tool for inclusive schools. The study points to the detected state of inclusive education captured in selected nine school educational programs of primary schools in the Prešov and Košice self-governing regions, and points out the formal efforts of primary schools to incorporate the principles of inclusive education into their educational programs. The study notes the differences in the inclusive principles of education in public, church and private primary school curricula, pointing out an interesting fact that the overall evaluated inclusion rate according to the modified assessment tool is not statistically significantly different in each of our selected school curricula.
