Summary/Abstract: The author claims that in the recent years, translatology has shifted from peripheral areas into the central realm of modern humanities. This might have ensued from the following reasons associating translatology with other humanistic disciplines: linguistic theories developing in the twentieth century; discovery of a creative function of the subject in constructing cultural phenomena; analysis of data transformation mechanisms in a variety of areas; investigation into differences in social studies (cultural, linguistic, axiological); global circulation of goods and ideas; philological grounds for translatology; as well as empiricism and a natural verifiability of outcomes of translatological research.
