Summary/Abstract: Between 1947 and 1961 Klement Bochořák wrote and published seven works intended primarily for child readers; these works characterize his writing in this period. This article offers an interpretation of Klement Bochořák’s writing for children and young adults and explores his motivation for moving from poetry to literature for children and young adults. In addition, the study aims to place this period in the larger context of Bochořák’s work as a whole and to demonstrate that the author’s development was natural and harmonious rather than given by a need to comply with the demands of the regime.
