Summary/Abstract: The article summarises an eschatology of the early modern period in respect of the funeral culture. Giving an overview of the funeral culture, the paper describes the funeral monuments in terms of form and style of their iconographical as well as written components. The focus is given to questions of their development, language, and religion. Particular examples are given from the area of Prague of the 16th and 17th century.
