Summary/Abstract: My essay does not contain any new issue; I don’t even intend to rediscover the role of preaching. I only try to return from the improper practice of today to the role it originally played at the beginning of Christianity and foundation of the Church. What is the task of preaching as mission and pastoral care are concerned? How can those listening to God’s Word be addressed to in such a way as to avoid such a reaction: “Well, I know very well all that has been said!” for us to discover that they are wrong actually. But before this having come to light we notice that the generalities heard by the listener send him to sleep. If, after having listened to the first three sentences the listeners do not realize that they themselves are concerned, they switch off, they only hear what is being said but they no longer listen to it. For the preacher as God’s servant ii is important that the new message transmitted be repeated by his audience. It is also important for him to know that following the Amen his listeners be able to start their service as Christians enriched in knowledge, strengthened in faith, engaged in de-cent life and rejoicing in God’s love.
