Summary/Abstract: This article describes and assesses the role of Prison Guard officers in the rehabilitation of prisoners on the example of interactions carried out in three penitentiary units of the District Inspectorate of the Prison Service in Lublin. The analysis includes the activities of: the oldest unit in the district, which is the Prison in Biała Podlaska, the newest in Poland – the Prison in Opole Lubelskie and the largest in the district – Detention Center in Lublin. The scope of the study was limited to the implementation of issues related to employment, teaching, implementation of cultural and educational activities and sports and ways of contacting the family and the outside world as well as the implementation of rehabilitation and therapeutic programs. The presented data allowed to formulate conclusions regarding the directions of the development of the rehabilitation process and the participation of officers of the Prison Service in it.
