Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the etymology of the canonical, legal, medical and theological terms used in the 1742 decree of the Vicar General Editto del Vicario Generale della Diocesi di Catania Intorno al Parto Cesareo, e Benedizione Nuziale. The edict was written in the Italian language of the 18th century. The text was translated into English using the original spelling of the document.
