Summary/Abstract: The publication is devoted to one of their current areas of modern domestic literature — imagology. The purpose of the study was to study the image of Florence. In this connection, particular attention was drawn to the memories and articles of F. I. Buslaev is a famous Russian philologist and art historian. He visited Florence four times — in 1840, 1841, 1864 and 1874. The first time the city was perceived by the traveler as a fairy tale, the second time — as a dream, which was difficult to part with, the third time — as a place where the connection of time takes place, and finally, the fourth time — as a museum, as a treasure trove of world art.
