Summary/Abstract: Rev. Sámuel Nádudvari, accused with spreading the Arminianist and Universalist trends of Dutch theology in Transylvania, arrived in the (Reformed) College of Marosvásárhely as a teacher of philosophy and mathematics in 1740. He did notrenounce his sympathy towards these new doctrines here either, since in his lecture she followed Christian Wolff, thus contributing to a great extent for the College of Marosvásárhely to become the “home of philosophia wolphiana”. He proved to be a very popular and successful teacher amongst his students, nonetheless, in everyday life he had to face a lot of obstacles. He could repay his debts which he had amassed throughout his student years only with great difficulties during his ministry in Nagyenyed, yet his financial troubles did not end in Marosvásárhely either. His increasing debts as well as the unsuccessfulness of his second marriage also reflected badly upon his teaching career. Finally, in 1747, he secretly fled the town.
