Summary/Abstract: The Polish educational system more and more often shows its dramatic deficiencies. The most serious objection is that schools teach badly. This is partly to the weakness of the teachers themselves, and partly because of the poor school management. The presented article indicates the main sources of weakness in Polish education and – first of all – it hints on how the system could be improved. Among many important factors is a change of approach to the education and upbringing process. Priorities are unchanged, but present time force teachers to use other educational methods. A positive feature of a small school has been shown, and above all the article draws attention to the role of a teacher who, full of passion, should discover infinitely beautiful world of knowledge for young people.
