Summary/Abstract: The article discusses Karl Jaspers’ concept of selfhood. The previous research of Jaspers’ philosophy is reviewed, and the relevance of the analysis of his concept of selfhood is explained. When analyzing Jaspers’ attempts to reveal the potentiality of an individual to be himself, his thoughts are compared with those of Martin Heidegger. The types of phenomena of I, which are referred to by Jaspers, are studied. His concepts of boundary situations, interactions with otherness, existential communication, and the connection with what is transcendent are highlighted. The most remarkable renewals of these ideas and their evaluations are discussed; their importance for the creators of the current interactive art is noted.
