Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to present the way in which it can be constructed an efficient model of assessment and evaluation in teaching Romanian as a foreign/ second language from an intercultural perspective. Firstly, I proposed a series of terminological clarifications starting from CEFR (2001) and the companion volume from 2018, which sustain an action-oriented model, in which there are assessed and evaluated not only the level of knowledge, but also the quality of the performance in the use of language in the processes of comprehension, production, interaction and intercultural mediation. The overall language proficiency includes other competences, besides the linguistic one: pragmatic, sociolinguistic and intercultural. In the second part of my paper I offered some suggestions regarding the way in which these principles can be applied in the construction of some valid, reliable and feasible tools of assessment and evaluation in teaching Romanian as a foreign/ second language.
