Summary/Abstract: The article presents a methodological proposal for a systematic description of the concept of “revolution” and its semantic dimensions. The analysis is based on the linguistic theory of semantic frames (KONERDING 1993, ZIEM 2008). The adopted assumption is that certain semantic aspects of “revolution” emerge as a result of discourse practices, and consequently can only be described discursively. This is illustrated by an analysis of German discourse surrounding the 100th anniversary of the ʻRussian Revolution’.
