ЗБОГ ЧЕГА ЉУДИ ПРИСТУПАЈУ НОВИМ РЕЛИГИЈСКИМ ПОКРЕТИМА?
WHY PEOPLE JOIN NEW RELIGIOUS MOVEMENTS?

Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the problem of joining new religious movements. According to the data obtained from research projects conducted in the United States of America, new religious movements became very attractive not only to people who used to belong to so-called universal religions, but also to those who were not confessionally determined. Such a situation provoked reaction not only from almost all religious groups, but also from the public. The cause is being searched in different things. From the point of view of this paper, new religious movements are successful in recruiting new members because of their open attitude towards potential members as well as because of their positive orientation towards achievements of the modern times. Moreover, new religious movements especially nourish “individual approach” as one of the most successful ways for expansion. These assumptions were put on check through the comparative analysis of two Internet presentations: the official site of Church of Scientology and the site called "Catholic on line", one of the official sites of the Catholic Church.
