Studying Language Awareness of People Living in the Rural Regions of Kurpie – Prolegomena

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the most important premises in examining language awareness of people living in the rural regions of Kurpie. The main challenges include: lack of an explicit definition of language awareness, selection of the adequate method of investigation, choice of subjects, choice of informants and places where research could be conducted. The current situation of the local dialect of Kurpie is overviewed. Finally, the article highlights the topicality of the issue and the need for language awareness studies in Kurpie.
