Summary/Abstract: The article searches for answers to the question whether the mother tongue of Lithuanians who have been in emigration for more than 5 years undergoes attrition. Test C performances by 61 emigrants and 61 non-emigrants (control group) collected while carrying out the project Language of Emigrants: Proficiency, Use, and Attrition (2015–2017) are analysed. The results of both groups are compared by applying the Student t test and conducting an error analysis. The analysis of C test performances revealed that general results of the emigrants and those of the control group differ – the latter can handle the test easier and, as the test test data analysis shows, the difference among emigrants of all test results is statistically significant.
