Summary/Abstract: The basic goal of the lecture and the paper from which it stemmed, is to try to point out to sports as a possible reference frame for research of identity creation process, through allegedly confronted phenomena of "local" and "global" comprehension of identity practices. The paper treats sports as a popular culture phenomenon, and it follows ways in which identities (which are often defined as uncompromising in transitional Serbia) are constructed, confronted and reconciled, and which are associated with questions of existence of local (national) and global (European) identification project.
