Summary/Abstract: Geography teachers have been taught at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences (former Vilnius Pedagogical Institute and Vilnius Pedagogical University) for more than 70 years. During the following time, 4164 graduates were prepared to work as geography teachers as their first and 132 ones as their second background. Permanent (stationary) and extended (extramural) study programmes were practised to train the geographers. The number of graduates trained at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences exceeds twice the number of graduates of Vilnius University.
