Summary/Abstract: The union of Bessarabia with Romania on March 1918 had not been acknowledged by the new Soviet power in Russia. At the beginning of 1919, the Bolshevik leadership started to plan the spreading of the revolution in Bessarabia and the inclusion, once again, of this territory within Russia. Following this plan, a shadow government of Bessarabia that travelled on an armoured train was to exert control of the province after the occupation of the Red Army. The projects failed in May-June 1919 at the backdrop of the defeat of the bolshevik army on the fronts of the civil war in Ukraine.
