Summary/Abstract: This year, 2019, is considered the Romanian National Year of the Village and its Spirituality. That is why we focus this critical essay on the ancestral imaginary specific to the Romanian village, according to the old menthality and to the modern cultural antropology (related to philosophers such as C. Noica and Ernest Bernea). It was revealed that many signs and symbols specific to the village life generated different imaginary systems during historical epochs. Still, the metaphors and the symbolical construct are the common, meaning that the native place, the little houses from the villages, the old yard, the image of the peasant and all his religious life and destiny are the fundamental support for Romanian poets form the very beginning to contemporary writers. This is the certain sign that the rustic life will remain the representative core of the poetic imaginary.
