Summary/Abstract: In some postclassical texts it's possible to read a particular connection between civiliter agere de fide instrumenti and exceptio non numeratae pecuniae. They are two different ways to contest documentary evidence, and seem to become, after sometime, disliked by emperors, because defendants often misuse them to hinder regular trials.
