Summary/Abstract: Our Jewish tradition asks us to remember. We are a people of memory. But what happens when that memory remains fixed on the most awful moment in our collective experience? What happens when we are so traumatized by the events of that memory—of the Holocaust— that we cannot look backward to a more ambiguous past or to an unknown and unknowable future?
