Compensation of the consequences of accidents caused by movement of autonomous cars in the United States

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to discuss the problem of adapting current legal regulations in the United States concerning compensation of the consequences of accidents caused by movement of autonomous cars for the mass sale of this type vehicles. The first part of the article presents the issue of responsibility for causing a traffic accident, including the liability of drivers and vehicle manufacturers. In this part issues of liability for damages caused by the computers were also presented. The second part of the article analyzes the core of compulsory insurance. Attention was paid to the problem of adaptation car insurance regulations to autonomous vehicles. This part also indicates the possible directions of legislation development, including proposal to create a compensation fund for victims of accidents involving self-driving vehicles.
