Summary/Abstract: In post-war Yugoslav sociology — and this applies to sociological thought in other countries — problems of social development were given a subordinate role. Far more attention was given to questions relating to social structure, to the history of sociological thought and contemporary sociological trends in the world, to various social phenomena and processes etc. It is true, however, that in the textbooks, manuals and other works displaying broader and more general theoretical aims — and such works are mainly considered in the present survey — problems of social development are but seldom completely neglected.
