Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the usage of the infinitive, its meaning and role in various types of structures in which the modern Serbian language prefers to use analytical structures.Таке note of the infinitive in constructions with modal verbs and the verbs mental and cognitive activity, permissive verbs, verbs that refer to the communicative act, verbs of perception, the periphrastic predicates, adjectives and adverbs, but take note of the independent infinitive. The infinitive in these texts has a more extensive use than in the texts of the modern Serbian language.
