Summary/Abstract: One’s understanding of actual processes going on in the present-day world as well as the laying down of a scientific theory of development and social progress to be of use to activities within the socio-economic planning and socio-political management, depend on one’s building and defining criteria and indicators by means of which, starting from the basic values and goals of socialism and communism, one is to observe and measure both the results achieved in given societies and trends in their development in the future. The method of social indicators in this context is gaining an ever more significant place.
