Summary/Abstract: The object of this paper is practical policy on interculturalism in two EU countries – France and Germany, and two Balkan countries, Croatia27 and Serbia, which are trying to become members. The aim of the research is to identify national cultural and education policies on interculturalism through the analysis of national goals and priorities which are in connection with intercultural dialogue, measures, instruments and practical policy actions undertaken by the chosen countries. In keeping with this, it is necessary to identify the actors, strategies and programs which make up the practice of intercultural dialogue. Another aim is to establish how and to what extent institutions which focus on education, public institutions of culture and the media interpret and employ policies of interculturalism. Finally, based on the analysis of the experiences and practices of the countries which were chosen, the goal is to formulate recommendations for the cultural public policy for Serbia which would include intercultural dialogue, in order to support the process of promoting intercultural dialogue in Serbia.
