The character of the latest layer of borrowings from the Polish language in the Ukrainian dialects in the region of Warmia and Mazury

Summary/Abstract: This paper is a discussion of the West Ukrainian slang used by the Ukrainian community inhabiting the Warmia and Mazury Region. Particular attention was paid to the interference and integration of the slang with the Polish national language and the literary language. It should be stressed that the economic and social transformation thft the inhabitants of Warmia and Mazury have experienced have resulted in the disappearance of the slang in their natural, rural environment. The study material was gathered from the respondents for whom the slang is a primary language. This paper presents the priceless and disappearing linguistic material of the Ukrainian community subjected to assimilation processes.
