Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present the legal status of a voivodship governor in Poland within the area of security and public order. The representative of the Council of Ministers in a voivodship performs a managerial and coordination functions in matters of security and public order, the aim of which is to meet the needs in this respect more effectively. The analysis of the legal situation in this respect leads to the conclusion that a voivodship governor as a local authority performs a wide range of responsibilities to protect security and ensure public order. The author of the article argues that a voivodship governor to carry out such tasks, the legislature has equipped this body with many powers, sometimes entailing sanctions for the entities to which these tasks are directed, and therefore they must be applied not only with caution, but above all within the limits of law to avoid any abuse in that field.
