Summary/Abstract: Safety and Health at Work as an Institution of Labor Law is a unitary set of imperative legal norms aimed at regulating the social relations that are formed with regard to the organization, development and control of the work processes in order to ensure the optimal conditions for the protection of life , body integrity and health of all participants in the process, prevention of occupational accidents and illness. The following material presents a brief history of this legal institution as well as the specific obligations of employers and employees. Also, elements related to occupational medicine (in terms of prevention), work accidents (in terms of definition, classification, causality and research) and occupational diseases (notion, classification and risk factors) are also addressed.
