Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses and questions the deep and above all very complex connection between media and social deviations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is unquestionable that the topics related to criminal offenses and criminality have always been, and it seems especially interesting today to the wider public. The media closely monitor "criminal activities" and report it to the public, but there is a question as to what the content and meaning of these media reports are about? In the search for their specificity, and through the pretext of informing the public about criminal offenses, the work, within several interrelated segments, considers the relation of the media to culture and social reality, analyzes the media representation (or even persistence) of various types of social deviations, and in particular treats causal- the consequent link, the relationship between media and social deviations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Namely, apart from the mentioned representation of media deviations, it is also necessary to examine the influence of the media on the occurrence of deviations and criminality, that is, the effects of media on people's behavior. An important goal also highlights the need to raise awareness of the importance of a proper, critical reading of media content regarding social deviations. Unfortunately, in the daily race for exclusivity, media often resort to sensationalist reporting, therefore media education and media literacy are imperative to create "media-conscious audiences", trained in diagnostic critique. Only such audiences will be able to respond to the challenges of decoding content from the domain of social deviations and thus be a potential bearer of critical media pedagogy. The research results of all these media segments and social deviations will reveal the strong correlation and interdependence of these two phenomena, and the observation of the importance and complexity of media and social deviations is aimed at improving the prevention and (re)socialization of deviant forms of behavior in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
