Summary/Abstract: Since natural persons should have control of their own personal data and it should be transparent that their personal data are processed, the controller must provide the data subject with certain information on the processing operations even when the personal data was obtained directly from the latter. As such, this paper discusses the content of the information to be provided to a data subject under article 13 from the EU General Data Protection Regulation. We will take into account both the provisions of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the guidelines issued by Article 29 Data Protection Working Party and endorsed by the European Data Protection Board, without overlooking the Handbook on European data protection law issued by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and the Council of Europe.
