Summary/Abstract: The article follows the picture of Catholic priest and politician Florián Tománek (1877 – 1946) in the Hungarian press until 1918. Based on the analysis of published articles it tries to find out how the Hungarian press informed about him and his activities before 1918. During this period of his life, two major themes resonated. The first was his political commitment to the Slovak nation, the second was his dispute in the ecclesiastical field with the diocesan bishop Alexander Párvy.
