Summary/Abstract: This article is a result of the research conducted amongst Polish journalists from April to June 2018. The intention of the author was to check how Polish journalists perceived the values, ethics and proficiency described in the Social Responsibility Theory of the press and codes of ethics. The result of the research, based on the answers of more than 200 journalists, reporters, editors gives us a big picture of Polish journalism. The picture is not perfect because the milieu is strongly divided over fundamental issues.
