Summary/Abstract: Tiupa explores the possibilities of applying contemporary narratological concepts in literary studies on epic genres. The focus is on basic hypothetical productive types of literary expression that make up the field of epic literature: the epos, the short story, novella, novel, sketch, story. Tiupa concludes that the basic genre works differ from each other mostly on account of the their narrative strategies.
