Summary/Abstract: All European countries face the challenge of protecting a growing number of people in dependency situations as a result of increased life expectancy and ageing rates. Each country's response is determined by its social welfare model. On the basis of the differentiating singularities of Spain and Romania, this article makes a comparative analysis of both social policies of assistance to dependent people between those two countries.
