Summary/Abstract: Verbal speech is conducive to the cognitive development of individuals and influences — ina positive way — the effectiveness of the process of learning. Language makes it possible to feelfree while thinking and enables people to generate various ideas, to make hypotheses, or formulatedifferent — even the most fanciful — theories which relate to phenomena examined by them. The considerations which the author makes on the role of speech in the process of learningbecame the incentive to carry out research among students of pedagogy, whose aim was to establishwhat views they present concerning the importance of egocentric speech, dialogue and discussionin the mathematical education of children at younger school age. The results of the research andan essay to interpret them constitute the second part of the article.
